Engaging the Mission Field of Government

Delaware’s Church Ambassador Network seeks to inspire the Church to engage the mission field of government for the advancement of God’s Kingdom. We connect the shepherds of God’s Church (pastors) to the shepherds of government (elected officials), God’s “ministers for our good” (Rom. 13:4).

THE Work we do – together

We are a network of churches that provides prayer and financial support to a team of pastors that disciple our elected officials in Delaware.

The Church Ambassador Network is built on the example of men like Daniel and Paul (Dan. 1-6; Acts 9, 13-28), who:

  • Cultivated relationships with officials, even their captors (Dan. 1:8-10; Acts 16:25-34, Acts 27);
  • Pointed government officials to the one, true King as they provided them with wisdom (Dan. 1:20-21, 2:26-28; 5:13-29, 6:1-3; Acts 24:24-25, 26:1-32);
  • Modeled the spiritual disciplines of prayer (Dan. 2:17-18, Dan. 6, Eph. 6:19); and
  • Courageously stood for Biblical principles (Dan. 1:8, 6; Acts 16).

Is your church in the network?

2 Timothy 2:1-2 tells us to pray for our governing authorities, so that we can live “quiet and peaceful lives.” Our vision is for every church in Delaware to have two dedicated Tenacious Prayer Warriors (TPWs) – individuals who pray consistently and specifically for their government officials.

The Church Ambassador Network Vision

Scripture teaches that government is an institution of God, and that He created it with a purpose. Government’s purpose is justice, to punish evil and commend those who do good (Romans 13:1-2).

Read our Statement of Faith Here.

The government rests on His shoulders (Isaiah 9:6). He is the King of Kings, the Lord of Lords (1 Timothy 6:15 and Revelation 17:4). Our earthly kings must look to Him as the Chief Shepherd (1 Peter 5:4).

Biblical Platform Comparison

When sin entered this world, God could have left us to our own vices, but He didn’t. He created government to establish order in a broken world. Government, though not perfect, protects us from the effects of sin, and when it carries out its God-given responsibilities, it is a blessing.

It is our passion that the “kings” of today – all government leaders – see who they are in Christ, and that the Church sees the role of the “kings” in God’s plan. We are called to steward our government, praying earnestly for our leaders, so that we may live in peace (1 Timothy 2:1-2, Jeremiah 29:7). We believe when this happens, nations, cities, communities, and individuals are blessed (Proverbs 29:2).

Churches are called to be the voice of God’s truth in the culture (1 Timothy 3:15). As our team of Delaware pastors visits Legislative Hall regularly to minister to the elected officials in Dover, we count on your prayers (Ephesians 6:18-20).
